Welcome to Jackson's Marina
We want to share the sad news of Ken Jackson’s passing on Friday, February 3. Uncle Ken started the marina with his brother and current owner Gordon Jackson. Ken was a craftsman who could often been found rebuilding many of the wooden boats at Jackson’s.
Three Jackson’s Marina employees assisted the Hampton Bays Fire Department with efforts to extinguish a boat fire that occurred in the middle of February. The fire occurred on Fair Wind III a 44 foot commercial tuna boat. The fire took several hours to extinguish resulting in damage to a nearby boat, the melting of a fiberglass pole down to the waterline, and ultimately a totaled boat. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
A recent article in a November 2014 issue of Professional Boatbuilder magazine highlighted a wireless smoke and CO2 detector manufactured by Nest (www.nest.com) that communicates with your smartphone. If you are interested in learning more read the attached article or stop by the marina to order one.
Relentlessly cold temperatures this winter have resulted in a frozen Peconic Bay! Hope many of you have dug out from the recent snow. With above freezing temperatures in the forecast for this weekend we’re ready for the Spring thaw.
